Field trip in Greece 2014
This year the field works in Greece were organized in cooperation with the Horticulture Department of the Faculty of Technical and Human Sciences, Târgu Mureş.
Although the scientific programs of the two departments went on independently, the students became acquainted and shared knowledge with each other. Almost all of them conquered the nearly 3000 m high peaks of the Olympus Mountain, and took part at a sailing to the Skiathos Island.
Divided into four groups, our students carried out chemical quantitative analyses of the Aegean Sea water, they determined animal and plant species, and made presentations about the specialties and characteristics of the studied region. Each year our list of the Mediterranean animal species broadens, this year we found two new species: the European blind snake (Typhlops vermicularis) and a species of heart urchins (Spatangus purpureus).
We also organized a photography contest led by professor Farkas György. We awarded two works, those of Deák Zsuzsa (second year student) and Lakatos Tamás (first year student). Their photos can be seen bellow:
This year the field works in Greece offered vast experiences to the students, and the diversified program ensured an overall knowledge about the Mediterranean environment.
