The 11th Edition of the Carpathian Basin Conference on Environmental Science, Pécs, 6–9th May 2015

Between the 6th and 9th of May 2015 the 11th Edition of the Carpathian Basin Conference on Environmental Science took place in Pécs, Hungary, organized by the University of Pécs and the Faculty of Sciences and Arts of the Sapientia University from Cluj. Teachers and students of the Environmental Science Department of the Sapientia University contributed in a significant number with presentations in different sessions.

On the first three days, between the scientific sessions a series of plenary lectures were held by invited speakers from Hungarian and Austrian Universities on interesting topics such as sustainable development, the integration of environmental responsability in the educational system, environmental regulations regarding rivers, pharmaceutical residues in waters and other environmental problems. Different cultural and other optional events completed the scientific program of the conference: musical programmes, visit to the botanical garden of the University of Pécs and the PannonPower biomass power plant. The conference ended with a field trip followed by a wine tasting  in the well-known wine producing area of Siklós-Villány. The organizers from Pécs deserve special thanks for this event! According to precedent, the next edition of the Carpathian Basin Conference on Environmental Science will be held again in Cluj next spring.

Academic Evenings with Zoltán Unger, PhD

 

The next lecture in the Academic Evenings series will take place on Tuesday, October 28, at 6:00 PM, in room A105 (4 Tordai Street). The lecture entitled The Role of Membrane Polarization in the Formation of Concretions will be held by Zoltán Unger, PhD.

The summer experiences of a master's student

Czira Panna, a second-year master's student, participated in the Erasmus+ mobility program within the summer internship program at the Balaton Limnological Research Institute. The institute is located in Hungary, in Tihany, on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. The program lasted for four weeks and mainly involved scientific tasks, including laboratory work and data management.
