12th Environmental Science Conference of the Carpathian Basin
The 12th edition of the Environmental Science Conference of the Carpathian Basin took place between the 1st and the 4th of June 2016 in Berehove, Ucraine, in the joint organization of the Sapientia Hungarian University, the University of Pécs, the Szentágothai College and the II. Rákóczi Ferenc Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute, which provided the location of the conference.
Participants of the conference had the opportunity to attend several interesting plenary presentations with topics such as sustainable development, the present situation of higher education in relation with science and the necessity of expert’s training in the field of renewable energy sources. Altogether about 40 short lectures and 30 posters were presented in six different scientific sections such as environmental geography, geology, chemistry, physics, education and ecology. The final plenary presentation given by dr. Mócsy Ildikó commemorated the nuclear catastrophe at Cernobil from 30 years ago. On the last day of the conference a city tour, vine tasting at a local vinery and a trip to the castle of Munkács completed the scientific programme.
The next year’s conference will be hosted in Cluj by the Enviromental Science Department of the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania.
