On 14th of February our collegue Zsigmond Andrea-Rebeka, PhD, will hold a scientific presentation entitled Trace elements - the salts of life.

On 4th december, 2017 our invited speaker at the Academic Evening series is Sik András, PhD. His presentation is entitled When will we find life on Mars?

The XXVIIIth edition of the biology competition "Herman Ottó" is organized for the VIIth and VIIIth grade Hungarian speaking pupils who are studying in the Carpathian Basin. The competition at the regional level of Transylvania will take place in our faculty on 10th March, 2018.

With the occasion of the 8th edition of the Hungarian Cultural Days of Cluj the Transylvanian Museum Society organized a series of scientific presentations on the topic OUR BLUE GOLD – THE WATER. One of the invited speakers is our colleague, biologist, Szigyártó Lídia, PhD.

Kántor Izolda, Varga Krisztina and Szabó Ágota won the first prize, Rákossy Izabella the second prize at the Environmental Science section. Congratulations for the students end their professors!

The 13^th Carpathian Basin Conference for Environmental Science was held between the 5^th and 8^th of April 2017 in Cluj-Napoca. Aproximately one hundred participants attented the Conference, organized by the Environmental Science Department of the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania.

On the 15^th of March, the Department organized a trekking through the Şesul Craiului – Scăriţa Belioara Nature Reserve (Apuseni Mountains), with a lot of participating students.

As part of the Erasmus+ mobility programme, in the period of 30th January and 3rd February, three professors and the laboratory technician from our department had been visiting the University of Szeged. They were invited by the Department of Ecology and the Department of Plant Biology. The professors held scientific lectures, and discussed the details of joint research plans and field works with students.
