The Tenth Edition of the Carpathian Basin Conference on Environmental Science
The Carpathian Basin Conference on Environmental Science will be organised for the tenth time by the Department of Environmental Sciences of the Faculty of Sciences and Arts. This year's edition will take place in the period of 27–29th of March, 2014 in Cluj.

Feast at the Environmental Science Department
On 19th of December the students and proffessors of the Environmental Science Deparment organized a joint feast with mulled wine, milk-loaf, bread and dripping, funny exercises, a photograph-show and singing. The presence of graduated students made the event more special.

Academic Evening with Professor Paul G. Mezey
On 26th November 2013, on the occasion of the Academic Evenings presentation series, Professor Paul G. Mezey, chemist and mathematician coming from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada presented to the audience an interesting research field which lays at the boundary of chemistry and mathematics. The title of his presentation was Intramolecular interactions: beyond chemical bounds and space.

Visitors from Miercurea-Ciuc at our Faculty
On November 23, 2013 pupils of the Márton Áron College from Miercurea-Ciuc led by the teachers Barta Mónika and Péli Bálint visited our Faculty. The pupils were given a general idea about what does it mean to be a student at the Environmental Science Department.

The students of the 3rd year of the Environmental Science Department participated in a field trip at the Pata Rât landfill, which is situated in the neighbourhood of Cluj-Napoca.

Basic First Aid – presentation (15th November 2013)
On the 15th of November students and teachers of the Environmental Science Department had the opportunity to attend a presentation of two members (Székely Zselyke-Kata and Todea Erika) of the Transylvania Rescue Cluj-Turda team about the basic guidelines and procedures of first aid. Students learned how to treat those types of injuries that appear more frequently during laboratory and field activities, how to transport the victim and even how to call for professional help in an efficient way.

Fieldtrip and teambuilding at Sandulesti, 8-10 November 2013
The sunny weekend between 8-10 November offered a great opportunity to organize our traditional initiating and teambuilding fieldtrip for students of the Environmental Science Department. The aim of this trip is to provide an occasion to our fresh underclass students to meet their colleagues and teachers in a more informal environment.

The new building of the Sapientia Hungarian University
On October 4, 2013 the new building of the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania was delivered in Cluj-Napoca. The building gives home to the Faculty of Sciences and Arts with its three Departments numbering more than 250 students.

The first trip of the new academic year 2013-2014
It has already become a tradition to start the new academic year with a study tour. This year the Bisericii ridge, the valley of the Plescai Stream, and the Făget forest was visited, in the southern part of Cluj-Napoca.

Donation of books from Mr. Guha Péter, Vice-President of the Helvetia-Hungaria Association from Switzerland
On the 30th of July Mr. Guha Péter, the Vice-President of the Helvetia-Hungaria Association from Switzerland, visited the Faculty of Sciences and Arts of the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania, and he donated books of high value to the “Tonk Sándor” Library.

Graduation ceremony 2013
