Joint research and „Academic Evening” with dr. Gallé Róbert
Between 8-12 March our Department was visited by dr. Gallé Róbert, lecturer of Szeged University, Hungary. The purpose of his visit was the participation in a joint research project and a public presentation about the natural values of the Negev desert (Israel). His presentation enjoyed a great interest.

Scientific prezentation at the Andrei Mureşanu Highscool, Dej City
On February 26th three lecturers of the Environmental Science Departament gave prezentations on "Great Explosions" with the aim of popularizing science to the IX-XII. grade pupils of the Andrei Mureşanu Highschool, Dej. The lecturers spoke about ancient and modern explosives, the effects of the nuclear explosions, and living organisms used in detecting landmines.

The study tour in Pécs
The study tour was organized by Kinga Szacsvai and Tamás Neda. In the trip took part all three groups from the Environmental Sciences Department. The seen was an experience for the following courses from the second and third academic years of study: Environmental Physics I, Unconventional energy resources and environmental radioactivity.

Professional education in three scenes – Third part: excursion to Detunata Goală
On the 7th December the small team that won the competition of reports written about their practical training made an excursion all along the tourists’ route starting from the village called Bucium until Detunatele Goale, a hill built up of andesite and basalt layers which are 2,4 million years old.

Professional education in three scenes – First part: practical training on site in the Munţii Apuseni
During the period 16-18 November the students and the teachers of the Department of Environmental Sciences of the University Sapientia Cluj Napoca took part in a practical training on site in the Munţii Apuseni. The activity was organized by the Association Enviro Scientia and it was financially supported by the Bethlen Gabor Foundation. The target and in the same time the title of the practical training and of the events included into it was: A need of raw materials and the protection of the environment.

On 15th November the Department of Environmental Science organized the "Academic Evening" with Kovács Zoltán Csongor, president of the Green Transylvania Association. The problems with regard to the unrealistic mining plan of Roşia Montană Gold Corporation and the unprecedented civil movements against it were discussed.

It can be said that the organizers tried to be as interactive as possible, so the programs organised by various departments were not focused on certain days of activities, but rather during the whole week.
