On 18 March, Dr. Braun Mihály, senior researcher at the ATOMKI – Institute for Nuclear Research of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences presented a paleolimnologycal study carried out in the glacial lakes of the Retezat Mountains.

Ojos del Salado is a massive stratovolcano in the Andes on the Argentina–Chile border, in the Atacama Desert and the highest active volcano in the world (6,893 m). Despite the generally dry conditions, there is a permanent crater lake on the eastern side of the mountain.

Graduation ceremony in the new building of our faculty
On the 14th of June 2014 the graduation ceremony of our fourteen 3rd grade Environmental Science students took place in the new building of the Faculty of Sciences and Arts.

Field trip in Greece 2014
This year the field works in Greece were organized in cooperation with the Horticulture Department of the Faculty of Technical and Human Sciences, Târgu Mureş.

We were visited by the pupils of Bethlen Gábor College from Aiud
On the 9th of May 2014 the ninth and tenth grade pupils from the Bethlen Gábor College from Aiud visited the new building of our faculty, lead by the directress Szőcs Ildikó and biology teacher László Enikő.

Hydrobiological sampling along the Căpuș stream
On the 15th of April a group of our students participated to a hydrobiological sampling along the Căpuș stream on its sector downstream the Păniceni Gorge. The samples, containing a series of aquatic invertebrates and vertebrates, were processed and studied later in laboratory with the intention to evaluate the quality of the water.
